THE FIRST CONFEDERACY OR AN AMERICAN CONSPIRACY?

a webquest for stage 4 students

WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO - THE PROCESS

Step 1 your teacher will put you into groups of 3 or 4 students.

TASK PROCESS RESOURCES ASSESSMENT STUDENT FEEDBACK OUTCOMES SCENARIO HOME

Step 2 read through the whole webquest so that you know what to do. You will then need to divide the jobs up between you.

Researcher One - looks up the three words which need to be defined and writes out their meanings and an explanation onto a sheet of cardboard so that everyone can see them.

Researchers Two and Three - use the links to Native American sites to start finding out whether they had a democratic confederacy and a constitution and when they had it. Then prepare a simple timeline to show what happened.

Researcher Four - investigates the forming of the United States of America Confederacy and Constitution to find out when and how they were established.

Step 3 - everyone comes back with their information and shares their knowledge so that, as a group, you can come to the conclusion as to whether the Native Americans influenced the development of the USA Confederacy and Constitution and were, therefore the real founding democratic fathers of modern America. If you finish before the others see what you can do to help them finish their work.

Step 4 - using all the information you have gathered plan, design and create your poster clearly showing any links between the Native Americans' and the European Americans' Confederacies, Constitutions and democratic systems and making sure that you include elements from all the tasks on the poster..

Step 5 - present your findings to your class.
